weekly check-in

This week we have been busy!  We have completely gutted our spare bedroom to the studs!  I will give 95% of the credit to my amazing hubby, who last night got the ceiling down and the carpet up.  Soon we will be putting in new insulation and drywall and windows.  We had to start somewhere and the spare room was the place.  I have pictures I will post later.

Last weekend Jeff & I went moonlight bowling and had fun.  I bowled really well so I was pretty happy.  Jeff just got his own bowling ball and got to use it for the first time on Saturday.  He's figuring it out and is doing pretty well.

This week I have been exhausted, but trying to help Jeff on the project as much as I can.  This weekend is booked with all kinds of stuff going on.  We have the cash bash Saturday night, and bowling league again on Sunday.  Hopefully we can catch up on house projects and chores at some point.  I'd also love a nice warm day to get out and run with Kuba.

I don't have any pictures with me so I"ll post more later tonight hopefully.!

Some of my favorite things

Here are some of my favorite things.  Not anything in particular, some I just like to look at, some I have, some I wish I had....

1. Reebok Running Shoes- I bought these last summer and wear them when I work out.  I have shin splints and when I'm wearing these I don't!  I would buy every color if I could!

2. These adorable earrings- How awesome are these!  From this etsy shop.  Talk about amazing prices for some seriously cute earrings.  I would wear these pretty much non- stop.  I don't have these sadly.

3. A VW Jetta- Hopefully my next car! :)

4.  Thirty-one Lunch Tote.  My amazing aunt got me one for Christmas and I love it!  It's big enough to bring lunch, and a couple snacks and still fit in the refrigerator if needed.

5.  My iMac.  The Hubs and I bought one shortly after we got married- we had been looking for awhile.  It doesn't disappoint.

6.  The camera J & I got for our anniversary & birthday's from my parents.  It's a great point and shoot and perfect for us when we travel.

7. The weather this "winter" if you can call it that.  Loving the 40 degree temps that allow for runs outside.

8.  The renovations underway at our home.  The spare room is gutted right now and I'm loving that Jeff & I are working together to make it what we want!

9.  My sweet friend Kristi got some great news about their adoption recently!

10.  I've blogged more in the last 3 weeks than the last year :)

I saw this little quiz on Blue Eyed Bride's page from Mrs to Mama and thought it looked like fun!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?  We started dating on January 1, 2004 so we have been together for 8 years.

2. How did you meet? {What’s your “love” story?}  We met in October of 2000 while both on FFA trips for our schools.  His school was an hour from ours in Illinois, but we met at the National Convention because we were staying at the same hotel.  We met the first night we were there and basically just hung out as friends and exchanged e-mail addresses and began chatting online.  Yes, chatting, when that was popular :)

3. If married, how long have you been married?
We have been married 1 1/2 years

4. If you are married, where did you get married? Big or small wedding?
We were married at Jeff's church with a big wedding.  We had around 270 guests and had the wedding we have always wanted, we were surrounded by our closest friends and family!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
Jeff calls me Wife, I call him hun

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
His love for me, his work ethic, and his ability to listen.

7. Tell us how he proposed?
We went to a Chicago Cubs game, my first one ever.  Before the game I was asking him where my jersey was, because I knew he had gotten me a jersey to wear.  At first he told me that he forgot it at home, but then I asked again, and he said let me look at see if I have it.  He went to his cousins backpack and pulled out the jersey.  I went to put it on and he said wait I think I left the tags on it.  So I pulled the tags off and went to put it on again.  He said wait it looks like there is something on the back you might want to look.  So, I unfolded it and look at the back and realized it said "Mrs. Iverson"!!!  I was in shock.  At that point he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
Neither, we don't celebrate Valentine's day really.  It's just another day to us.

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
I love sunset dinner on the beach, but living in Illinois we don't do that much.  But we do pop in a movie and relax on the couch a lot!

10. Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant other one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
I would love to travel to Europe.  Someday.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine’s Day.
Nothing special, dinner at home and probably watching TV.

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine’s day?
No- I told him I didn't want anything and I wasn't getting him anything.  His response was when do I ever get you anything for Valentine's Day?!

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Communication is key!  I have learned over the last 8 years not talking makes things much harder on both of you.

20 Things you don't know about me

I've seen quite a a few other bloggers do this.  I have done this a while back, but I figured why not do it again with 20 new things!

1.  My best friend is Ashley, we went to school together from Preschool- Senior year.  I was her maid of honor on June 5ht, 2010 and she was a bridesmad in my wedding!

2.  I started dating my now husband shortly after I turned 18.  We had met 4 years before while on an FFA trip. 

3.  I love to travel.  Jeff & I want to do the 50 before 50- visit all 50 states before we turn 50 years old.

4.  On my mom's side of the family my grandma has 5 sibilings.  One has passed, but the others I see often.  The oldest is 96 years old!

5.  I met some of my best friends while working my first job out of college.  Well technically I was finishing college, but still.  I miss them all of the time!  (Bridget, Kels, Kristi, Russ!)  Miss you all!!

6.  One of the above mentioned friends is in the process of adopting their 2nd daughter from China!  Miss Presley will be joining Kristi's family this summer hopefully!! Check out their blog:  www.jkcc-ourjourneytochina.blogspot.com.

7.  On July 2nd, 2009, Jeff & I got engaged.  After this happened I tried to call my parents because they were on vacation.  I called mom and dad and neither answered, so I took a picture of my ring and sent it to my mom's phone.  The reason they didn't answer was they were on their trip to Alaska and were at the Artic Circle!  They were on a bus when my mom made the comment to someone else, someones phone keeps ringing.  She finally checked her phone and saw the message!  Her phone was then passed around the bus for everyone to see.  We had congratulations messages from people we didn't even know!

9.I was on a volunteer fire department.

10.  I've lost 13 lbs. since Jan. 1 :)

11.  I secretly want to move to a warm place, but know that I would miss the snow if I did.

12.Jeff and I can't wait to live outside of town to have livestock at our home again, like we did growing up.

13.  If someone offered me a job based on what they saw me doing at a former job and it was great pay, but away from my home area.  I would probably take it and fly home to visit.

14.  Our dog, Kuba is a big baby!

15.  I've lost touch with a lot of my old friends, but sometimes I think that may have been a blessing in disguise so that we could reconnect again sometime.

16.  My car is 5 years old and has over 130,000 miles on it- driving 85 miles a day adds up quickly.

17.  I'm going to Disney in June with my parents and older brother's family.  Sadly Jeff can't go, but I'm excited to go.

18.  I would love to one day have a successful blog with lots of visitors :)

19.  I have a love hate relationship with Facebook.  I love I can keep up with old friends, I hate all of the stupid drama!!!

20.  I just wasted 20 minutes trying to think of 20 things about me.
